Coffee on Us at The Works Café
On May 28, a few members of the AIL team stopped by The Works Café to surprise visitors with free coffee - a small but meaningful way to share some joy, spark conversation, and introduce people to our living communities.
Throughout the morning, patrons were treated to a warm cup of coffee on us, turning an ordinary café visit into a moment of connection and delight. It was a simple gesture, but one that created smiles, conversations, and a lot of gratitude (on both sides of the counter).
Why The Works Café
Partnering with The Works Café felt like a natural fit. Founded in 1988 in Manchester, Vermont, The Works has grown to eleven cafés across New England while staying rooted in its founding values: good food for great people and a better planet. The café operates on a triple bottom line - people, planet, and profit - and is deeply committed to sustainability, community involvement, and responsible sourcing.
From compostable cups and long-standing refillable mug policies to supporting local suppliers and neighborhood initiatives, The Works continues to model what it looks like to care for both community and environment.
Building Community, One Cup at a Time
This coffee giveaway was part of our ongoing effort to connect with the wider community in fun, approachable ways - meeting people where they already are and creating moments of genuine hospitality. Whether it’s coffee, conversation, or simply a smile, these small interactions help build relationships beyond our living communities.
We’re grateful to The Works Café for welcoming us in and partnering with us to make the morning a little brighter.
