Empowering Women, One Outfit at a Time: AIL Supports Dress for Success

As the new year kicked off, Amherst Innovative Living partnered with Dress for Success Western Massachusetts to help women step confidently into their futures. Throughout January, each of our communities hosted donation bins in the lobby, collecting gently used professional clothing to support this incredible nonprofit’s mission.

Dressing for Success—and for Opportunity

From blazers and dress pants to shoes and accessories, residents and community members generously contributed professional attire to help equip women with the tools they need to thrive in the workplace. These donations were delivered to Dress for Success Western Massachusetts, a Springfield-based nonprofit and proud member of a global network that empowers women through career support, development tools, and—yes—wardrobe essentials.

Why It Matters

Founded in 2000, Dress for Success Western Massachusetts has grown from a single room in a community center to a dedicated space at 45 Lyman Street, where it now serves as the anchor organization for the O'Dell Women's Center. Their team includes program graduates, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainable, community-rooted empowerment. By providing a network of support and access to career development resources, they help women achieve economic independence—and dignity.

Every blazer donated and every pair of shoes given represents a woman gaining confidence as she prepares for a job interview, a new position, or the next step in her journey.

Continuing the Work

We’re proud to have contributed to Dress for Success Western Massachusetts and grateful to our residents and our community for showing up with generosity. While our collection drive has ended, the work of empowering women continues. Want to get involved? Learn more about how you can support this organization at dressforsuccess.org.
