Serving Up Support: Empty Bowls 2025 Fills More Than Plates
Empty Bowls 2025 is officially in the books—and what a day it was. Hosted by the Amherst Survival Center, this cherished annual event brought together artists, chefs, volunteers, businesses, and donors to serve not only delicious soups, but also real hope to our neighbors facing food insecurity.
Amherst Innovative Living Shows Up to Serve
We were proud to attend and support this year’s event, joining hundreds of others committed to making sure everyone in our community has access to nourishing meals. We were honored to be part of the collective effort that helped raise an incredible $70,000 for the Center’s food and nutrition programs.
Why This Event Matters
As demand for food assistance continues to rise—surpassing even the levels seen during the height of the pandemic—the Amherst Survival Center remains a critical lifeline. In 2024 alone, the Center provided over 1.6 million meals to more than 11,500 individuals and families. With federal funding cuts threatening essential programs, local support is more vital than ever.
Bowls, Soup, and Community Spirit
Empty Bowls isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a tradition of community care. Guests enjoyed over 16 soups from local restaurants, lively conversations, handcrafted bowls from area potters, and table service by local celebrities. With live jazz from Amherst College students and the culinary talents of Hope & Olive—who served up their beloved Thai tomato soup—the day felt like a beautiful expression of everything this town stands for.
Looking Ahead
We’re already looking forward to the 18th Annual Empty Bowls, in 2026. Until then, we encourage others to stay connected, donate, and find ways to support the Amherst Survival Center’s work.
